Can I pay with an Educational Savings Account?

First check to see if CHC is listed as a vendor in the ESA program you are part of. At present, CHC participates in Ohio ACE, Arizona ESA, Children’s Scholarship Fund NH, and New Hampshire EFA.

To place an order with your ESA funds, use the “Educational Savings Account” option on the checkout page. Build your order, and when you get to the checkout page, click “Educational Savings Account.” ​Type the name of the student for whom you are ordering the materials in the Purchase Order field. Then click “Place Order.”

Download the invoice/receipt on the order confirmation page and submit it to your ESA program. Ask the ESA program to send payment to CHC for the items on the invoice. Once we receive payment, we will release your order for shipment.

Can I pay by check?

Yes! Build your cart online and when you get to the checkout page, select the payment option called “Check/Money Order.” ​Then click “Place Order Now.” Mail a check or money order for the final total to this address:

When we receive your check, we’ll match it to the order you’ve placed. That way, you don’t have to write down your items on an order form or calculate shipping and sales tax. Your order will remain on hold and will not be shipped until we receive payment by check or money order.

Can I pay using a payment plan?

No, all orders must be paid in full at the time they are placed.

I placed two orders and would like to combine them to save on shipping. Is that possible?

No. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to combine orders once they have been placed. If it’s within one hour, you may log into your account, cancel both orders, and place a new order with all the items you wish to purchase.

If you ordered as a guest instead of making an account, please contact us as soon as possible and we’ll cancel your orders for you if it isn’t too late.

Can I remove an item or cancel my order after it has been placed?

You can remove items or cancel your order as long as the order status is “On Hold.” You can edit your order yourself by logging into your account. (If you checked out as a guest, contact us as soon as possible.) After one hour, the order status will change to “Processing” and changes are no longer possible.

To cancel your order:

Log into your account and go to “Order History.” Click on the order you want to cancel. If the status says “On hold,” then there is still time to cancel it. Scroll to the bottom of the order and click the “Remove an Item or Cancel” button.

In the form that opens up, click the Check All button. If you ordered multiple quantities, adjust the number in the quantity box so that all copies of that item are cancelled. Then click the Cancel Product(s) button at the bottom of the page.

Your order has been cancelled! You will receive an email confirming the cancellation within the next few business hours.

To remove an item:

Log into your account and go to “Order History.” Click on the order you want to change. If the status says “On hold,” then there is still time to remove an item. Scroll to the bottom of the order and click the “Remove an Item or Cancel” button.

In the form that opens up, checkmark the item(s) you wish to remove from the order. If you ordered more than one copy, adjust the number in the quantity box. Then click the Cancel Product(s) button at the bottom of the page.

The selected product(s) have been removed from your order! CHC’s support team will now recalculate your shipping and sales tax. Once your changes are confirmed, you will be emailed a revised invoice.

Can I add an item to my order after it has been placed?

No. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to add an item to your order once it has been placed. If it’s within one hour, you may log into your account, cancel the order, and place a new order with all the items you wish to purchase.

How quickly will my order be shipped?

Most orders ship in one to three business days. During the busy months of August and December, orders sometimes take a few more days to ship.

I’m ordering from outside the U.S. Do you ship to international addresses?

CHC does not ship to non-U.S. addresses. Canadian customers can order from Blue Mantle Educational Supplies (bluemantle.ca). Other international customers can use a mail forwarding service such as www.myus.com. Other options include addresspal.anpost.ie (Ireland) and lbcexpress.com (Philippines).

A mail forwarding service works by assigning the customer a U.S. mail box number in their facility. That way we can send the customer’s order to a U.S. address, and once it arrives at the mail forwarding service, they will forward it on to the customer’s international address.

Note: CHC does ship to military addresses (APO/FPO).

What is your return policy?

If you are not satisfied with an item, please visit our returns page to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Books must be in new, unused condition to qualify for a refund. 

Once your return has arrived, you will be issued a refund of the cost of the books minus a 15% restocking fee. No returns accepted after 60 days; returns must be postmarked within 60 days of the order date to receive a refund. Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility.

Final Sale Items: Loose-leaf books, lesson plans, tear-off pads, art cards/prints, e-books, maps, Bargain Basement titles, and Limited Quantity titles are final sale items; no returns are accepted.

Are there any non-returnable items?

Yes. Loose-leaf books, lesson plans, tear-off pads, art cards/prints, e-books, maps, Bargain Basement titles, and Limited Quantity titles are final sale items; no returns are accepted.

Whether an item is returnable or not is listed under Product Details for each product.

Do you pay for return shipping?

Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility.

Can I exchange a book I ordered for a different grade level?

We do not have an exchange policy. Exchanges are two separate processes: a return and a new order.

What if my order is damaged or an item is missing?

If you receive the wrong item or the material is defective, please contact us within 30 days for a prompt and hassle-free replacement.

I think my order is lost in the mail. What should I do?

If your order shipped via Media Mail, it could take up to 21 business days to arrive. But if the tracking info hasn’t been updated in 7 days, please contact us so we can submit a Missing Mail Search Request. If your order doesn’t arrive within 21 business days, we will replace your order free of charge and ship it at a faster rate (Priority Mail or UPS Ground).

Packages shipped via Priority Mail or UPS Ground are hardly ever lost. If you think your package is lost, please contact us so we can investigate the situation and make it right.

Does CHC offer bulk discounts for co-ops, parishes, or schools?

No. CHC strives to keep prices low for single-income families, so we do not have the means to offer bulk discounts.

Are there discounts built into the core kits?

No, the core kits do not incorporate a discount; the books are sold as a kit for the customer’s convenience. This means you can customize the core kits however you wish without worrying about missing out on a discount.

Do you offer discounts for military families?

Since we are a small company, we are not able to offer special discounts for our military families. Instead we strive to keep prices low for all our customers.

In which states do you collect sales tax?

CHC is required to collect sales tax in the following states: GA, IL, IN, MD, MI, MN, NC, OH, OK, TX, VA. If your shipping address is in any other state, sales tax will not be collected.

My order is sales tax exempt. How do I get sales tax waived?

A temporary error is preventing customers from uploading tax certificates through their accounts. Instead, please email your tax-exempt certificate to chc@chcweb.com. 

If you are ordering for a school, parish, or other tax-exempt organization, please upload your tax-exempt certificate through your online account.

Log in to My Account and click “Tax Exemption.” Under Tax Certificate, click the button “Choose File.” Select your tax-exempt certificate. Then click the button “Submit Tax Info.”

The CHC support team will process your certificate in 1-2 business days. Your account will then be tax exempt, and you will not be charged sales tax on orders placed through that account.

I’m ordering for a school or parish. Do you offer open account with net 30 terms?

We do not accept orders on open account; payment must be received up front.

If you need to receive an invoice and pay with a check, you can choose the Check/Money Order option during the checkout process. Your order will be shipped once payment is received.

Do you send free sample books to schools?

No. CHC does not send free sample books to schools or other organizations. Instead, we invite you to browse the many sample flipbooks available on our website.

What is your copyright policy?

CHC’s books have a standard copyright policy, which does not allow copying even within a single family. The royalty agreement we have with our authors and artists is based on the number of books that are sold.

Most of those who write or illustrate for us also live on one income and are struggling to raise families, pay considerable medical bills, or prepare for their retirement. They depend on people honoring the copyright law in order to receive payment for their hard work.

Are there any exceptions to your copyright policy?

There are a few exceptions:

  • CHC Lesson Plans may not be copied for use with other children. However, you may make copies of the “Typical Course of Study,” “Year at a Glance” chart, and “Achievement Record” in order to submit paperwork to your school district or state.
  • Sharing the Good News: As noted in the front of the book, copies of the articles, stories, jokes, and other resources in the book may be made for the purpose of distributing a family newsletter.
  • A Catholic Garden of Puzzles has a family copyright, as stated in the front of the book, so families using the book may make additional copies of the puzzles for family members only.
  • Who Am I Teacher’s Manuals: The project patterns in the back of the teacher’s manuals may be copied for multiple students.
  • E-Books have a family copyright, so families using an e-book may print it out as many times as desired for family members only. They can also have e-books printed at a copy shop.

Can you send me a replacement page? The toddler ate it.

We are happy to send up to 10 replacement pages by email for books that have been purchased from CHC within the previous year. After one year, we do not provide replacement pages.

Can I reuse CHC lesson plans for more than one child?

Yes, so long as you don’t copy them. The copyright on lesson plans is a standard copyright, which allows unlimited use of the material as long as copies are not made of the work. If families were to photocopy the plans for more than one child—for all the children in the family—then the price of the plans would have to be much higher.

We both win when the copyright law is honored; CHC and its authors and artists receive payment they have earned, which in turn enables CHC to continue to publish more materials for your family!

Does CHC attend homeschooling conferences?

CHC does not attend homeschooling conferences. We feel the best use of our limited time, funds, and energy is to focus on publishing new materials for Catholic homeschoolers.

Does CHC offer digital versions of its printed materials?

No, we do not provide our printed materials in electronic formats. We do sell a few e-books, which are available in a digital format only.

How do I use your e-books? Do I need a special app or device to view the e-book?

The e-books we offer are formatted as PDF files, so they can be viewed and printed from any device that reads PDFs. This includes all computers, tablets, and smart phones. You do not need to install a special app to view the PDFs.

How soon can I download the e-books I've ordered?

When you order an e-book, there will be a short delay before you can access it. A direct link to the e-book is included in the shipping confirmation email, which you will receive in 1-3 days. If you need your e-book sooner, please contact us and we can send it to you.

If your order is just for e-books and doesn’t include any physical books, you can expect to receive the shipping confirmation email with direct links to your e-books in about an hour.
