This high school lesson plan provides a daily schedule for Encountering Christ, Course II in the Spirit of Truth High School series by Sophia Institute Press. The lesson plan coordinates the Student Text and the Workbook. A removable answer key for the assigned textbook and workbook exercises is included in the back of CHC’s lesson plan!

This theology course stands on its own, but ideally would be completed after The Revelation of Christ in Scripture, Course I in the Spirit of Truth High School series.

The course includes inspiring art masterpieces and interesting assignments and is appropriate for the college-prep, community-college, or school-to-work tracks. Teens on the community-college or school-to-work tracks, however, may wish to omit the “Straight to the Source” assignments that study passages from encyclicals and other primary sources.

High School Lesson Plan for Encountering Christ features a one-page-per-week, detailed format with:

  • check-boxes
  • clear weekly goals
  • room for notes
  • “Year at a Glance” chart
  • 5 days a week, 18 weeks

Q: Does this lesson plan include everything I need for the course?

A: No, this e-book includes lesson plans and an answer key. You will need to purchase the Encountering Christ Student Text and Workbook separately.

Q: How many high school credits is this course worth?

A: As laid out in CHC’s lesson plans, Encountering Christ is a 0.5-credit high school course intended to be completed over the course of a semester (18 weeks).

Q: How do the new high school lesson plans fit with the High School of Your Dreams Guidebook?

A: High School of Your Dreams Guidebook remains the foundation for planning your student’s high school experience, helping you design a program tailored to your child. The new lesson plans are optional tools within that framework. They provide CHC-vetted, ready-to-use daily plans for select subjects, primarily for the college-preparatory track. Many families may find it helpful to use prepared plans for some subjects while still designing unique courses for other areas where it is important to fit their child’s interests, strengths, or goals.

Q: Which high school track(s) is High School Lesson Plan for Encountering Christ appropriate for?

A: Encountering Christ is an engaging course that can be used successfully by students on the college-prep, community-college, or school-to-work track. However, teens on the community-college or school-to-work tracks may wish to omit the “Straight to the Source” assignments that study passages from encyclicals and other primary sources. Since they are not on the college-prep track, they can still earn 0.5 credit for the course.
